5/21/2007 - Countryside Humane Society Thanks Raymond School
Sue Lenart, a 1st grade teacher, came up with the idea and organized the fundraiser. Julie Phillips and her Girl Scout troop #5903 also came to CHS for tour. Jenny Jakes made a trip to Raymond School to talk to the school about CHS. The whole school took part in the fun of collecting items for CHS. After 20 days they collected 2 van loads of supplies plus $1165.43 of monetary donations! Great Job!!!
These donations will help many animals at CHS; in particular, they have given a special dog a better chance. Franky was brought to CHS with a broken leg. After many x-rays the Doctors decided to try and save the leg by placing a rod in it. So on Thursday, May 10th Franky had surgery. Unfortunately on May 13th the rod started to come out and the Doctors could not replace it. On May 14th Franky went back to the operating room to have the leg amputated.
Franky is doing really well but it will be a long road to recovery for him. Franky is in a foster home recovering and being watched for any sign of infections that may occur. He really doesn’t seem to know he is without a leg. Franky is started to eat more and gain some weight which is a sign that he is feeling better.
A special Thank You also to Fox Valley Veterinarian Doctors and Staff for all the medical care you have given to Franky.
UPDATE - Franky has been adopted!!!
Franky loves his new home. His new Mommy is home with him most of the time. He has a nice fenced in yard to run and play in. Franky also has two play mates, a 3 year old girl who love to hold and cuddly him and a 5 year old boy who love to play ball and take him for walks.
