October is officially “Adopt A Dog” month. To make children aware of the joy, responsibility and lifetime commitment of owning a pet, Countryside Humane Society is sponsoring a coloring contest featuring a dog. The contest starts in October and runs through November 10, 2006. Children ages 4 to 9 years may enter.

This was the fourteenth year for Countryside Humane Society’s “Walk For The Animals.” What started out as a rather small event, at Douglas Community Center, has grown into quite a large production at Pritchard Park involving months of planning, several vans, trucks, tents and lots of manpower!
For the fourth year in a row, Barbara Cook has been the top money raiser for the event. We are so thankful for her dedication to the animals and to our many other friends who also helped with their pledges and donations.
Countryside has been fortune to have so many wonderful sponsors. Special thanks goes to our “Diamond” Sponsors - The Andis Company and Char Eleene Mano, CPA, MST, “Gold” Sponsor –Allegra Imaging & Printing, Inc., “Silver” Sponsors – Johnson Bank and Storybook Farms and all our Bronze, Patron and Friends. Without the help of so many wonderful sponsors, this event surely wouldn’t have been a success.
We would like to thank the staff at Racine Veterinary Clinic for managing the Walk registration booth, all the dedicated CHS volunteers and all our guests who provided informative demonstrations.
Whenever an organization plans an outdoor event such as this, weather is always a major concern. A truly big “thank you” to the community and all the walkers who braved a rather “chilly” day and “Walked for the Animals!”
